The Meteorological Department's alert came a day after 13 people died while sitting in the open for several hours at a Maharashtra government program.

The Meteorological Department said that due to the Western Disturbance in the Western Himalayan region, there will be some respite from the scorching heat in the plains of North-Western India from Tuesday.
