Academic session 2023-24: Four-year integrated course will be taught, NCTE said- BEd courses will run on the pilot mode in universities and institutes

Under the National Policy on Education (NEP), the four-year Integrated B.Ed course will be taught from the academic session 2023-to 24. National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) has issued notification for running BA-B.Ed, B.Sc-B.Ed and B.Com-B.Ed courses on the pilot mode in multidisciplinary universities and institutes of Central and State Governments.

 

Along with this, NCTE has opened the window to fill out the online application form for admission to these courses. Interested candidates can fill out the online application form by May 31, 11.59 pm. National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) for admission to these courses. The seat will be allotted based on its merit score.

 

A notification in this regard has been issued on Sunday by Kesang Yangzom Sherpa, Member Secretary of the National Council for Teacher Education. It is written in it that from the academic session 2023-24, online applications are being invited for the four-year Integrated B.Ed. Earlier, as per the notification issued in October last year, ITEP is a dual-major composite undergraduate degree. In this, BA B.Ed, B.Sc-B.Ed and B.Com-B.Ed courses will be made available.

 

It is being launched in a pilot mode in multidisciplinary universities and institutions of the Central and State Governments across the country. Seats will be awarded based on the merit score of a National Joint Entrance Examination (NCET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). As per the National Policy on Education (NEP) 2020, the curriculum of this program is designed in such a way that it enables a student-teacher to acquire a degree in a particular subject such as History, Mathematics, Science, Arts, Economics, or Commerce along with education. will enable It will also teach about Early Childhood, Care and Education (ECCE), Basic Literacy and Numeracy (FLN), and Inclusive Education, along with knowledge of cutting-edge education.

 

Teachers will be selected from the four-year B.Ed program from the year 2030

 

Under the NEP, from 2030, the selection of teachers in the school will be done based on the four-year Integrated B.Ed program. This new course will also save one year of the students. So far, years go into pursuing undergraduate degree programs. After that the two-year B.Ed program studies. In this way, till now we can do B.Ed in five years. If a student wants to make his future in the teaching field after 12th class then he can directly enroll in BA-BEd, BSc-BEd, and BCom-BEd.
