Lucknow, March 13 (IANS) Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav reached his Vikramaditya Marg residence in the state capital on Friday after being discharged from the Medanta hospital in Gurgaon.
Down with high fever and chest congestion, the former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh was rushed to the Gurgaon super-speciality hospital last week after he complained of breathlessness and unease.
While he was initially treated at the SGPGI in Lucknow, he was referred to Gurgaon when his health did not improve and doctors attending on him suspected that the leader was down with swine flu.
Soon after his arrival at his home, party workers, state ministers and officials made a beeline to meet him but were prevented by security personnel.
His son -- and UP chief minister -- Akhilesh Yadav met him soon after his arrival and told people later that 'Neta ji' had recovered well. A family member told IANS that the 75-year-old Yadav has been advised rest and has been asked not to meet people for a few more days for fear of relapse of infection.
Yadav was discharged from Medanta hospital Thursday and taken to his Krishna Menon Marg residence in New Delhi. After some rest, he flew to Lucknow on Friday.
Hospital authorities have said that he did not have H1N1 infection and was suffering from severe chest congestion and abdominal infection.
