Agneepath Scheme: Caste and religion certificate was also sought earlier, army clarified questions raised on military recruitment

The army has clarified the demand for caste and religion certificates in military recruitment. Military officials say that there has been no change in the military recruitment process under the Agneepath scheme. Caste and religion certificate has been sought in the past as well. Politics had started when caste and religion certificates were sought for the Agneepath scheme.

 

AAP MP Sanjay Singh and JDU leader Upendra Kushwaha raised questions about the plan by sharing a screenshot related to military recruitment. Both had said that what is the need for caste and religion certificates in military recruitment. Sanjay Singh had claimed that for the first time in the history of India, a caste certificate is being sought in military recruitment.

 

Why religion certificate is sought

 

When asked for a religion certificate in military recruitment, an army officer said that it is necessary to know religion to perform the last rites of soldiers who died during training and deployment. With this, his last rites are performed according to the same religion.

 

What did Sanjay Singh say?

 

Sanjay Singh shared a screenshot related to the army restoration on his Twitter handle. He wrote, "The poor face of the Modi government has come in front of the country. Does Modi Ji not consider Dalits, backward, and tribals eligible for army recruitment? For the first time in the history of India, caste is being asked in army recruitment. Modi Ji to you To be made Agniveer or Jativeer?

 

Was he a JDU leader?

 

Bihar JDU leader and National President of Parliamentary Board Upendra Kushwaha had also raised questions on the demand for caste certificates. He sought clarification from Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on this. He wrote on his Twitter handle, what is the need for a caste certificate in the reinstatement of the army when there is no provision for reservation in it. The officials of the concerned department should explain.
