World Cup 2023: Pakistan begged in front of Jai Shah! PCB asks for compensation; Zaka Ashraf wrote a letter to the ACC President

Posted on 7th Sep 2023 03:01 pm by rohit kumar

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has demanded compensation from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) for the loss of gate money due to the Asia Cup 2023 matches being held in Sri Lanka. Though the PCB hasn't released any official statement, some reports have suggested that board chairman Zaka Ashraf has written a formal letter to ACC chief Jai Shah demanding compensation.

Along with this, Ashraf has also expressed disappointment over the attitude of ACC regarding the scheduling of matches in Sri Lanka. The PCB chief, without naming anyone, asked who was responsible for the decision to change the match venues at the last minute without taking the ACC board members into confidence.

The meeting was held on September 5

The letter said that in the meeting on September 5, both the host countries and ACC members had decided that the matches should be held in Hambantota, after which Sri Lanka's chief curator had left there to prepare the pitch. Necessary arrangements for broadcasting were also being made in Hambantota.

ACC sent the mail

According to the letter, ACC had also sent an email to the PCB confirming this. Ashraf expressed surprise that after some time the PCB was asked not to consider this match and later it was announced that the matches would be held in Kandy and Colombo as per the pre-determined schedule.
