Vikrant Massey has shared a story on Instagram expressing grief over the incident and informing about the death of his close one. In this emotional post, Vikrant wrote, 'My heart is broken for the families and close ones of the people who lost their lives in the unthinkable tragic accident that happened in Ahmedabad today. It was even sad to know that my uncle Clifford Kunder lost his son Clive Kunder, who was unfortunately the first officer working on the flight. May God give you and your family and all the affected people the strength to bear this sorrow.'
After Vikrant's Instagram story, Clive Kunder started being described as Vikrant's cousin in the media. Because Vikrant had mentioned his uncle's son in his story. After which everyone thought that Clive Kunder was Vikrant's cousin. However, Vikrant soon cleared up this confusion. He shared another story and clarified that Clive Kunder was not his cousin but a family friend. He wrote that the media and others requested that Clive Kunder was not my cousin. The Kunder family is our family friend. People are requested not to spread this confusion too much.

Captain Sumit was commanding Air India's Boeing 787 Dreamliner plane (AI171). Vikrant Massey's brother Clive Kunder, who was a co-pilot, was assisting Sumit. Clive Kunder had 1100 hours of flying experience.
