According to Bangladesh media reports, on Friday (November 29), Bangladesh authorities ordered the bank accounts of a Hindu leader and 16 members associated with ISKCON to be frozen for 30 days. The 16 members of ISKCON also include the name of former member Chinmay Krishna Das Brahmachari, who has been arrested on charges of sedition this week.
This order given by ISKCON officials was taken after the Bangladesh High Court rejected the petition filed to ban ISKCON, which came after the killing of a lawyer in a clash between supporters of the Hindu leader and security personnel.
BFIU sent instructions to banks
According to Pratham Alo newspaper, the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) sent instructions to various banks and financial institutions on Thursday (November 28). After this, all types of transactions related to the accounts of the concerned people were suspended for a month.
The Financial Intelligence Agency under the central Bangladesh Bank asked Bangladesh's banks and financial institutions to send information about the accounts of all the companies owned by these 17 people, including transactions, within three working days.
A sedition case was registered at Kotwali police station.
