The Delhi High Court will pronounce its verdict this afternoon on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's petition challenging his arrest in a money laundering case related to the excise scam.

On April 3, after hearing all the parties, the court had reserved its decision. The bench of Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma will pronounce its verdict on the case at 2.30 pm.

Along with the arrest, Kejriwal has also challenged the court's decision to send him to ED remand. The ED had opposed the plea saying Kejriwal cannot claim immunity from arrest based on upcoming elections as the law applies equally to him and the common man.

Delhi CM was arrested on March 21

It is noteworthy that Kejriwal, who was arrested on March 21, was sent to jail for 15 days in judicial custody on April 1 by the special court of Rouse Avenue after a ten-day ED remand.

Challenging the arrest, Kejriwal has raised questions on the timing of his arrest. Kejriwal has argued that this violates the basic structure of the Constitution, including democracy, free and fair elections, and equal opportunity.
