Australia vs India 4th Test: Australia scored 274 runs at the loss of five wickets on the first day of the fourth and final Test against India at the Gaba International Stadium. Tim Paine is playing 38 and Cameron Green 28 after the first day's game is over.
Troubled by injuries, the Indian team landed in this match with four changes. The bowling attack of the visiting team is very inexperienced and new, but still, the young bowlers of India performed well in front of the Australian batsmen.
Australia lost their opening pair early after winning the toss and batting first. An innings of 108 runs was strengthened by Manners Labushen, but India's fast bowler T. Natarajan, playing his first Test match, returned India with two wickets and brought the hosts under pressure. However, Australia was once again strengthened by captain Tim Paine and Cameron Green sharing a 61-run partnership.
In the very first over, Mohammad Siraj dismissed David Warner (4). After this, Shardul Thakur gave India another success by dismissing Marcus Harris (5). Australia lost both their openers to a total score of 17. From here, Labushen and last match century Steve Smith took over the team by sharing 70 runs for the third wicket. They both stayed till lunch. Smith's score was 36 in the second session of the day, when Washington Sundar, playing his first Test match, was caught by Rohit Sharma.
Meanwhile, bad news also came for India. In the second session, India's right-arm fast bowler Navdeep San was injured and went out of the field. He is under the supervision of the BCCI medical team and has been taken for a scan.
Matthew Wade again formed a century partnership with Labushen. Both added 113 runs for the fourth wicket and brought the team in good shape. Wade was five runs away from his half-century. He tried to pull Natarajan's short ball and the ball went into the air with the upper edge of his bat. Thakur caught Wade's catch and gave India the fourth wicket. Wade, who scored 45 runs, faced 87 balls and hit six fours.
Meanwhile, Labushen had completed his first century against India. After touching the figure of 100, he could not go far. Natarajan sent Labushen to the pavilion on a personal score of 108. Labushen was caught by wicketkeeper Pant. In his innings, this right-handed batsman faced 204 balls and hit nine fours. Labushen's wicket fell to a total score of 213.
There seemed to be pressure on Australia, which captain Penn and Green removed the half-century innings game. Penn has so far played 62 balls and hit five fours, while Green has hit three fours facing 70 balls. Natarajan has taken two wickets for India. Siraj, Thakur, and Sundar got success each.
