ED (Enforcement Directorate) and Income Tax Department have raided the Rampur residence of Samajwadi Party's national general secretary and former minister Azam Khan. Teams from both departments reached his residence as soon as the day broke and started an investigation after surrounding the house.
According to the news agency PTI, raids by the Income Tax Department and Enforcement Directorate are going on at 30 locations in Azam Khan including Lucknow, Meerut, Rampur, and Ghaziabad. According to sources, raids are being conducted on Azam Khan's hideouts in Madhya Pradesh also.
In the year 2019, 30 cases were registered against Azam Khan for grabbing land for Jauhar University. Then the administration declared him a land mafia. ED had also registered a case against Azam Khan.
The ED team from Lucknow reached Rampur several times and conducted an investigation. ED reached his house on Thursday morning. The police have surrounded the house from all sides. Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Shukla said that an investigation is being done in the old case against Azam Khan.
