Violence has erupted in Bangladesh following the death of opposition leader Osman Hadi, a critic of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Late Thursday night, rioters set fire to the offices of the country's largest newspaper, the Daily Star, and another newspaper, Prothom Alo. The office of Sheikh Hasina's Awami League party was also torched. Meanwhile, protests have broken out in India after Bangladeshi protesters claimed parts of India's northeastern states as their own. People in Tripura protested against the Bangladeshi extremists.
Hindu Youth Lynched
According to media reports, a Hindu youth was beaten to death by a mob in Bangladesh on Thursday on charges of blasphemy. His body was then stripped without cloth, hung from a tree, and set on fire. The deceased has been identified as Dipu Chandra Das. The lynching incident took place in the Bhaluka area, and a video of the incident is circulating on social media.
A mob also vandalized and set fire to the Awami League office in Bangladesh. The Awami League office had also been set ablaze during previous violence against Sheikh Hasina's government.
