Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday. Said- Despite nine years having passed since the signing of the Framework Agreement in 2015, they did nothing to resolve the Naga political issue. Addressing a rally during the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra in Nagaland's Mokokchung town, the Congress leader said the problem cannot be solved without taking the Naga people into confidence and discussing with them.
Attacking the Prime Minister, he said- 'If you do not have a solution then you should not lie and say that you have a solution to the problem. You can say that we have to work towards a solution and we will work towards a solution but you should not lie to the Naga people. He said that Congress believes that this issue is serious and its solution is necessary.
Rahul said that I have talked to Naga leaders. They are unable to understand why no steps have been taken yet towards a peace agreement. Rahul said that we do not even know what the PM thinks about solving the problem. This is an issue which can be resolved only through dialogue and work will have to be done in this direction.
The Naga rebellion started in 1947. The Center has been in talks with the NSCN-IM since 1997 to find a solution to the decades-old problem. The Center has also been in separate talks with the working committee of the Naga National Political Group (NNPG) since 2017. It includes at least seven groups. The Modi government had signed a framework agreement with the NSCN-IM in 2015. However, no conclusion has been reached yet due to NSCN-IM being adamant on the demand for a separate flag and constitution for the Nagas.
During this, Rahul said on the pathetic condition of industries in Nagaland that only two people are running the country. Not a single one of the 500 big companies in the country is owned by the people of Nagaland. He attacked BJP-RSS and said that they do not respect the different cultures and customs of the country. Rahul also met some bikers on the way during the journey. During this, a biker from Assam said that the Congress leader shared his experiences about his trip to Ladakh on his bike.
Rahul had gone on a bike ride to Pangong Lake in Ladakh on August 20 last year, the birthday of his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. On the other hand, Mahila Congress President Alka Lamba claimed in Guwahati on Wednesday that the BJP lost power in the states where it delayed allowing Bharat Jodo Yatra. Under the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi and other party leaders took out a march from South to North India.
Lamba urged the BJP-led government in Assam not to create problems in approving the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra being taken out by the Congress from the east to the west of the country. The Congress yatra is scheduled to enter Assam on Thursday.
