The contributions of Shibayama—who entertained audiences immensely for over 20 years through the TV animation Doraemon—can never be forgotten. It is with deep respect for him that we are compelled to convey this sorrowful news to you all."
It is reported that Tsutomu Shibayama had been battling lung cancer for quite some time. Despite undergoing continuous treatment, no improvement was observed in his condition, and he breathed his last at the age of 84.
