Patna, Jan 22 (IANS) Bihar Thursday set up a Special Investigating Team (SIT) to probe the death of five people in Muzaffarpur district four days ago which had triggered off a communal clash, officials said.
Police headquarters formed a five-member SIT headed by Saraiya sub-divisional police officer Manoj Kumar to probe the violence, Additional Director General of Police, headquarters, Gupteshwar Pandey said.
According to a police officer, the Crime Investigation Department's inspector general is monitoring the SIT probe.
On Sunday, hundreds of people attacked a village in the district after a 20-year-old Hindu boy's body was found. The boy was allegedly abducted and killed for his love affair with a Muslim girl.
A first information report was registered Monday against 2,000 unidentified people. Police have so far arrested 14 people in connection with the case.
