Lucknow, Jan 29 (IANS) The BJP Thursday accused the Uttar Pradesh government of trying to hoodwink the people over its claim of rapid industrialisation in the state.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state unit spokesman Chandra Mohan rubbished claims by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav that a conducive climate for investment in the state has been created by the Samajwadi Party-led government.
He also said law and order in the state has gone from bad to worse.
The BJP spokesman said no one was safe in the state as was evident in the spiralling crime graph, and suggested that the state government should focus on law and order rather than trying to fool people of the state.
"Even in the state capital (Lucknow) loot and murders are the order of the day," Chandra Mohan said while pointing at the murder of a woman jeweller late Wednesday in the city.
Besides, he made fun of the MoUs being signed by the state government, saying none has taken concrete shape in the past two years of the Samajwadi Party rule.
Even the predecessor government of Mayawati had signed several agreements with private players for power generation but they all remained on paper, he said.
The BJP leader said of the 41,000 industrial units registered in Kanpur, 6,000 shut down in a year, suggesting that the state government has failed to inspire and assure them enough to carry out their business in Uttar Pradesh.
