Shiv Sena and BJP have united in the debate over freedom fighter Veer Savarkar. Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut said on Wednesday that Veer Savarkar had never apologized to the British. Controversy has erupted over this statement of Rajnath Singh and many parties including Congress have questioned his statement. Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel has asked how did the talk between Gandhi and Savarkar take place, saying that Rajnath Singh's claim is wrong. Apart from this, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi taunted that these people can declare Savarkar as the father of the nation.
Talking to the media on the same matter, Sanjay Raut said that a freedom fighter who has been in jail for more than a decade can adopt a strategy to fulfill his purpose so that he comes out of jail. Sanjay Raut said that different tactics are adopted during politics and imprisonment. "If Savarkar has adopted such a strategy, then he cannot be called apologizing. Savarkar probably adopted a similar strategy. Can't say sorry to him. Savarkar never apologized to the Britishers.
