Blast outside Somalia Education Ministry: 2 cars exploded, 100 killed; over 300 injured

An explosion took place outside the education ministry in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia. So far 100 people have died in this blast on Saturday. More than 300 people have been injured. So far no organization has claimed responsibility for the attack. But President Hassan Sheikh Mohamed has accused the Islamic terrorist group al-Shabaab of the attack.

 

Lis officer Sadiq Dudisi said – There was an explosion in two cars outside the Somalia Ministry of Education. Some children including women and elderly people died in the accident. A journalist has also died. He has been identified as Mohammad Issey Kona.

Police officer Noor Farahi said – The first blast happened in a car parked outside the ministry. Neighbors gathered to help. As soon as the ambulance and rescue teams reached the spot, another car exploded. An injured person present at the spot said- I was about 100 meters away from the blast site. A plume of smoke appeared after the second explosion. After a while, only dead bodies were seen on the road. Blood was visible all around.

On October 24, there was a terrorist attack on a hotel in Kisamayo City. 9 people died in the attack. 47 people were injured. A similar terror attack happened in August 2022. On August 21, terrorists entered the Hyatt Hotel in Somalia's capital Mogadishu and opened fire. 20 people had died.

Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamed has accused the Islamic terrorist group al-Shabaab of the attack, saying - our people have been slaughtered. They took away the lives of women, children, and many families.
