Today is the second day of the special meeting of the Counter-Terrorism Committee of the United Nations Security Council. After Mumbai, the meeting of committee was held in Delhi. In this meeting, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar warned of carrying out terrorist attacks through technology. Jaishankar said that due to low cost and easy availability, the threat of drone attacks has increased worldwide.
External Affairs Minister said- Terrorist groups are using the internet to destabilize society. Social media platforms have also become a toolkit for them to spread bigotry and conspiracy. The easy availability of technology has increased the capabilities of terrorists. Through this, they can easily attack anywhere.
The threat of terrorism is highest in Asia and Africa
Jaishankar said that this meeting proves that counter-terrorism has become a priority of the Security Council. He said- the presence of members of the international community in this meeting being held in Delhi shows that the members and stakeholders of the UNSC want to eliminate terrorism. Despite this, the threat of terrorism is increasing. According to the 1267 Committee of the UNSC, the greatest threat of terrorism is in Asia and Africa. India will give half a million dollars, that is, about Rs 4 crore, to the United Nations Trust Fund to deal with terrorism.
