Adelaide, Feb 6 (IANS) Former Australian fast bowler Brett Lee Friday said the upcoming ICC World Cup, starting Feb 14, could suffer if curators around the country produced the same flat wickets that were a part of the last few Test and One-Day International (ODI) series in Australia.
Commenting on such pitches, Lee said it was the last thing they would want and hoped there would be fast pitches everywhere around the country for the mega event.
“That is the last thing we want," Lee was quoted as saying by the Sydney Morning Herald.
"I want the WACA (Perth) to be flying through, I want the SCG (Sydney) to have a bit of grass, I want the Gabba (Brisbane) to seam around. We should have the wickets that everyone expects to play on when they come to Australia," Lee added.
Lee has recently taken up a coaching role with minnows Ireland to help them in their World Cup campaign.
He has taken 380 wickets in 220 ODIs and was regarded as one of the most lethal fast bowlers in world cricket.
