Earlier, the deadline for the export of broken rice was fixed for September 15. Let us tell you that on September 9, India banned the export of broken rice with immediate effect. The export policy of broken rice was revised from 'free' to 'prohibited'. The ban on the export of broken rice assumes significance as the total area under paddy sown in the Kharif season has come down this year, which could have an impact on the production and prices of the crop.
