Priyanka Gandhi will speak for the first time in Lok Sabha today and will start with the opposition group in the debate on the Constitution.

On the occasion of the completion of 75 years of making the Constitution, a two-day discussion will begin in the Lok Sabha on Friday (13 December 2024). The government has agreed to discuss the Constitution on 13-14 December in the Lok Sabha and 16-17 December in the Rajya Sabha. Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi will give a speech in Parliament for the first time today i.e. on 13 December. She will start the discussion on the Constitution on behalf of the opposition parties.

Earlier it was expected that the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi would raise many important issues while starting the discussion on the Constitution in Parliament, but Priyanka Gandhi will start the discussion. Along with Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi has also targeted the central government by raising the issue of the Constitution on many occasions including the Wayanad by-election. Congress MP KC Venugopal said that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will start the debate in Rajya Sabha and Priyanka Gandhi will start the debate on behalf of the opposition in Lok Sabha.

 

Special discussion on the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution

 

According to the listed agenda of the Lok Sabha, there will be a special discussion on the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India. The discussion will begin after the Question Hour. Before the two-day discussion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a strategy meeting, which was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh as well as BJP President JP Nadda. Earlier, Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with senior BJP ministers including JP Nadda, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju in his office at Parliament House.

 

Discussion will be held in both houses

 

The Parliamentary Strategic Group of the Congress also discussed the winter session of Parliament and the discussion on the Constitution. The winter session of Parliament will probably end on December 20. During the winter session of Parliament, the opposition parties demanded a discussion in both houses on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution by the Constituent Assembly. The deadlock in Parliament was broken after a consensus was reached on this between the ruling party and the opposition.
