Budget 2024: The budget of UGC has increased to Rs 19,024 crore compared to Rs 17,473 crore in the last financial year. According to UGC Chairman Professor M Jagdish Kumar, it has been increased by nine percent.
He said the total higher education budget has increased by about eight percent. A provision of Rs 255 crore has been made to set up three new centers of Artificial Intelligence. This time the budget of school education has increased by 19.56 percent.
This year, Rs 12,024 crore more has been received for school education as compared to the year 2023-24. Rs 73,498 crore has been allocated to school education and Rs 47,619 crore for higher education.
IIT budget increased by 841 crores
IIT budget increased by 841 crores, deemed university by 96 crores, NIT by 219.40 crores, IISER by 78 crores, and IISc by 63.37 crores. At the same time, the budget of the Institute of Eminence has increased by 300 crores, the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme by 600 crores, and Multi-Disciplinary Education and Research Improvement in Technical Education has received 200 crores with a 100 percent increase.
4,500 crores more received in Samagra Shiksha
Compared to last year, there has been an increase of 4,500 crores in Samagra Shiksha, 2,467 crores in PM Poshan, and 3,250 crores in PM Shri Yojana.
Kendriya Vidyalaya has received Rs 9,302 crore with an increase of Rs 802 crore and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti has received Rs 5,800 crore with an increase of Rs 330 crore.
Provision of Rs 255 crore for setting up three new centers of Artificial Intelligence.
Rs 100 crore was allocated for the first time for National Digital University.
Rs 5 crore allocated for National Institutional Ranking Framework.
Government employees will be able to easily get training abroad as well.
Now government employees of India will not face any problem in getting training abroad. Rs 309.74 crore has been allocated for this. This allocation is under Rs 2,328.56 crore set for the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions for the current financial year.
Out of the total Rs 309.74 crore, Rs 103.05 is for the Training Division, Institute of Secretariat Training and Management (ISTM), and Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA). At the same time, Rs 120.56 crore has been given for training schemes and Rs 86.13 crore for the National Program for Civil Services Capacity Building or Mission Karmayogi.
The Training Division under the Ministry of Personnel, ISTM in Delhi, and LBSNAA in Mussoorie arrange several programs including foundation courses, refresher courses, mid-career training, etc., so that all levels/grades of secretariat officials can be provided adequate experience of the latest rules and regulations, qualifications, etc.
Described as the biggest bureaucratic reform initiative, Mission Karmayogi aims to make government employees more creative, active, professional, and technology competent.
