Ceasefire: Army statement- For the first time in 19 days, it was a peaceful night on the LoC, there was no shelling or firing

The effect of the ceasefire between India and Pakistan on May 10 was seen a day later on May 11. The Indian Army has also stated this, The army said that after the ceasefire was agreed between India and Pakistan on Saturday evening, there was a lot of peace in Jammu and Kashmir and other areas along the Line of Control and the international border between Sunday and Monday. During this time, there was no incident of shelling and firing, which was the first peaceful night in 19 days.

 

There was no ceasefire violation on the night of May 11

The night of May 11 brought a significant change to the India-Pakistan border, which established complete peace for the first time in ceasefire violations after the Pahalgam attack. From April 23 to May 6, incidents of small arms firing were reported in several sectors along the Line of Control, which escalated to heavy shelling and air strikes between May 7 and 11. Normalcy has returned to Poonch's Surankote, a border area that was recently hit by heavy shelling and ceasefire violations and suffered heavy casualties.

 

Locals were forced to flee their homes.

 

Just two days ago, Surankote witnessed heavy shelling, causing panic among residents. Following the attack, residents fled the town, some taking refuge in nearby hilly villages and bunkers, while others moved to safer areas of Jammu. With the situation improving now, people are hoping to return to their homes in Poonch soon. At the same time, several pictures have emerged from Srinagar, Pathankot, Rajouri, Akhnoor, Jammu, Kulgam, Sri Ganganagar, and Budgam, which show that the situation is normal.

 

Peace in border districts as well as elsewhere

 

Normalcy has returned not only in border areas but also in other cities including Chandigarh, where all restrictions were officially lifted on Sunday. "As a result, daily life has resumed and the situation is stable now," said Chandigarh deputy commissioner. Shops and other commercial establishments are allowed to remain open as per normal timings. Citizens are requested not to spread any kind of misinformation or false information, the deputy commissioner said.

 

Similarly, a local from Jaisalmer said everything is normal and the market is open. "There is no problem during the day. Shops close around 7:30 pm...our livelihood is not affected," he said.

 

Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, and ceasefire

 

The Indian Army destroyed nine terror hideouts in Pakistan and PoK under 'Operation Sindoor' on May 7, 15 days after the terror attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22. In which many notorious terrorists were also killed. After this, the situation between the two countries deteriorated and reached its peak after two decades. On the other hand, after Pakistan targeted Indian cities, India's air defense system foiled all the attacks and gave a befitting reply. India retaliated and destroyed 14 military bases of Pakistan. Frightened by this, Pakistan proposed a ceasefire to India on May 10, which was implemented by both countries after mutual discussion. However, a few hours after the ceasefire was implemented, it was violated by Pakistan, to which the Indian Army gave a befitting reply.
