भारत के जनगणना आयुक्त, विवेक जोशी को लिखे पत्र में, दिल्ली सरकार ने 18 मार्च को बताया कि राजधानी क्षेत्र और महामारी रोग अधिनियम, 1897 में "उच्च राज्य" का अलर्ट घोषित किया गया था।
श्री जोशी को पत्र ने यह भी बताया कि चूंकि जनगणना करने वालों को जनगणना-एनपीआर के लिए विवरण इकट्ठा करने के लिए घर-घर जाना होगा, इसलिए "कॉव -19 का प्रसार तेज हो सकता है"।
इससे पहले सप्ताह में, ओडिशा के मुख्यमंत्री नवीन पटनायक ने प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी को लिखा था कि जनगणना-एनपीआर के लिए जुटना क्षेत्र के अधिकारियों के लिए एक बड़ा जोखिम होगा और दोनों अभ्यासों को तुरंत स्थगित करने का निर्णय लिया जाएगा।
ओडिशा और दिल्ली सरकार के पत्रों के जनगणना आयुक्त की प्रतिक्रिया के बारे में श्री जोशी से संपर्क करने के कई प्रयास करने से कोई फायदा नहीं हुआ। उन्होंने इस मुद्दे पर किसी भी पाठ या टेलीफोन कॉल का जवाब नहीं दिया।
