New Delhi, March 21 (IANS) The Congress on Saturday condemned terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, saying such attacks reflect the central government's insensitive approach towards its people.

"First Kathua and now Samba, our jawans and civilians lost their lives in the attack. We strongly condemn it and extend our compassion to the bereaved families," Congress leader Raj Babbar told the media here.

"It's unfortunate that such incidents are on the rise in the country, where farmers are committing suicide and jawans as well as civilians are being killed in terrorist attacks. This reflects the government's insensitive approach."

Two soldiers and a pilgrim were injured on Saturday in a militant attack on an army camp in Samba district, while on Friday a civilian and three security personnel were killed when two guerrillas stormed a police station in Kathua district before being gunned down.

Babbar also lashed out at Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who is heading the PDP-BJP coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir, for "thanking Pakistan and the separatists for helping ensure peaceful elections" in the state last year.

"Such statements encourage terrorists as they send a message that the government is soft," he said.
