CJI: 'Pressure of special group on Judiciary', more than 600 lawyers including Harish Salve wrote a letter to CJI

Selective criticism of the judiciary in matters involving politicians is not good for democracy. More than 600 prominent lawyers including Harish Salve have expressed concern. Lawyers have expressed concern that a 'special group' in the country is trying to weaken the judiciary. All these lawyers have supported the court and judges by writing a letter to CJI DY Chandrachud.

In a letter to the CJI, the lawyers wrote, "As people who work to uphold the law, we think it is time to stand up for our courts. We need to come together and take action against the courts in the current times." There is a need to speak out against the ongoing attacks."

 

Lawyers expressed concern that 'special groups' were trying to obstruct court proceedings. Especially efforts are being made to create obstacles on those issues which are related to politicians and political parties.

 

'A special group is weakening the judiciary'

It was written in the letter that an attempt is being made to weaken the integrity of the court for some special benefit. The lawyers also wrote in the letter that the honor of judges is being deliberately attacked.

 

Lawyers have expressed concern over allegations of 'bench fixing' and anarchical governance of domestic courts. Lawyers have urged the Supreme Court to take protective measures against these attacks to maintain the integrity of the judiciary.

 

'CJI should take strict action to save the courts'

The lawyers wrote in the letter, "We request the Supreme Court to take strict and concrete steps to protect our courts from such attacks. In the letter, the lawyers have called for a united stand in support of the judiciary so that To ensure that the judiciary remains a strong pillar of democracy."
