The bridge almost completely collapsed within seconds. The bridge collapsed and fell about 50 feet (15 meters) into the frigid water below, officials said. The accident happened around 1:30 pm US time (11 am local time) on Monday night.
Officials said that as the ship approached the bridge, the crew gave an alert call (SOS call), due to which people moving towards the bridge were stopped. Many lives could be saved by this.

On this, Baltimore Fire Department Chief James Wallace said that sonar has found vehicles in the water, but he cannot give more information about it.
