The remarks on Prophet Mohammad by BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal have been termed by the senior Bangladesh minister as an internal matter of India. The country's Information and Broadcasting Minister Hassan Mahmood made this remark at a time when many countries including Saudi Arabia, and Iran have reacted sharply to it and demanded action from the Indian government. Bangladesh minister said that this is not a big issue in Bangladesh. Along with this, he also rejected the criticisms that the government of Bangladesh is compromising on this issue. Let us tell you that in Dhaka also some organizations had protested on this issue on 10 June.
He said that we welcome the action taken by the Government of India on this issue. Mahmood said that any remarks made against Prophet Mohammad are condemnable. Talking to the media, Mehmood said that an FIR has been registered in India in this matter and we hope that strict action will be taken based on that. On the allegations of the fundamentalists adopting a lax attitude on the part of the government on this issue, he said that the government of Bangladesh is not compromising. The Government of Bangladesh is not and will not compromise on the remarks made on Prophet Mohammad. I condemn it and spoke about it in the public meeting also.
Bangladeshi minister said - there is no issue for us as much as Arab
On the question of the government not issuing a public statement on this issue, he said that this is not an internal matter of our country. He said that this is not an internal matter for Bangladesh but an external matter. This is an internal matter in India. Whenever something like this happens anywhere in the world, then some Islamic parties protest here as well. This happens often. He said that this is not such a big issue in Bangladesh as it happens in Arab countries, Pakistan, and Malaysia. Mahmud said, 'If anything happens against Prophet Muhammad anywhere in the world, it should be condemned. We congratulate the Government of India on the legal action. He should take action against those who comment on Mohammad.
Said- There are some radical organizations in Bangladesh too
Significantly, many Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, UAE, and Malaysia had raised objections to this issue. In such a situation, it is a matter of relief to get such a comment from a big neighboring country. Mahmood said that there are some very radical Muslim organizations in Bangladesh as well. Their number is very less and they are not getting support, but they make a lot of noise.
