Cases of blood clotting after taking the vaccine have now also been reported in India. Till now such cases were being registered only in UK and US, but on Monday, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi has confirmed the death of a patient due to blood clotting after taking the vaccine. While six patients are still under treatment.

According to the hospital, through the Covid vaccine, a problem called thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) was seen in these patients, which is seen after blood clotting. At present six patients are alive and one has died.

According to doctors, five out of these seven cases are related to Kerala and from there they came to Delhi through a sample courier for investigation. At the same time, a patient resident of Delhi was referred from the Military Hospital located in Dhaulakuan but could not be saved due to the critical condition of the patient.

Senior Dr. (Prof.) Jyoti Kotwal of the hospital has also done a clinical study on all these patients, which was published in the Indian Journal of Hematology and Blood Transfusion on September 29. Dr. Kotwal told that during June this year only the first case was registered with him but after that six more patients from Kerala and Delhi were admitted to the hospital for treatment. The samples of these patients were also received from them by courier and after investigation, they were admitted after the confirmation of VITT.

rare cases

Dr. Kotwal told that there are rare cases of a blood clot and low platelets after taking the corona vaccine. These are medically known as VITT or thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS). So far, such cases have been found in Denmark, UK, Germany, and Canada and on August 11, treatment guidelines were issued for this in the US as well.

Symptoms appear in 30 days

According to doctors, symptoms can appear within three to 30 days after taking the vaccine. In addition, if the D-dimer is enlarged and pf heparin antibodies are present, a presumptive diagnosis can be made through therapeutics. If we look at vaccination, then only one in one lakh or one person out of 1.27 lakh can see this kind of problem.
