Monkeypox Infection: Monkeypox infection is spreading rapidly in America, new strain of virus surfaced in Britain

The monkeypox virus is spreading rapidly in America. So far, more than 30 children have also been found infected across the country. There has also been one death in America from monkeypox. According to Fox News, 31 children in 11 states of America have been found infected with monkeypox. Nine child victims have been found in the state of Texas alone. Whereas till now 18 thousand 989 cases of monkeypox have been found across the country.

The US Department of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said on Tuesday that a man infected with monkeypox died in Harris County, Texas. This is the first death due to this virus in the country. Earlier, the World Health Organization (WHO) reported that there has been a 21 percent drop in global cases of monkeypox last week. Since last April, more than 45 thousand cases of monkeypox have been found in 98 countries.

 

A new strain of the virus surfaced in Britain

 

At the same time, a new strain of monkeypox has been identified in the UK. The health officials of the country have confirmed the new strain. British health officials have said a man has been diagnosed with monkeypox linked to a recent trip to West Africa. Following this, the person has been admitted to the High Outcome Infectious Diseases (HCID) unit at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, following the Standing Advisory of the Advisory Committee.

 

Contact tracing continues

 

Contact tracing of close contacts of the person is underway. So far, no further connected cases have been identified. UKHSA Director Dr. Sofia Maki said that we are working to contact individuals who have had close contact with the case before confirming their infection so that they can be assessed and advised.
