Children's immunity increased by playing in the green environment and among the plants and vegetation in the lawn for only one month. This result has come to the fore in an experiment in the European country Finland. The staff of the day-care center developed these lawns with the help of the children at the center. In this, the responsibility of taking care of the plants was entrusted to the children. Due to this, the health of these children improved tremendously.
The research was done on children aged 3 to 5 years
Children in these lush green daycare centers saw an increase in T-cells and other important parameters of immunity compared to children playing in luxurious daycare centers made of concrete and tiles in cities. These children were in the age group of three to five years. Marja Rosland, an environmental scientist at the University of Helsinki, said that the microbes found in the intestines of these children from the center were as healthy as those of children who go to the forest daily. Studies have also shown in the past that spending time in a green environment strengthens the immune system.
The study claims that for the first time a direct link between the urban environment and green environment has been revealed immunity. Studies have shown that an environment full of living things has a positive effect on the immune system. On the other hand, the lack of biodiversity has a bad effect on health. In this, the lack of biodiversity in cities has been cited as an important reason for diseases related to immunity.
Contact with nature is also good for the eyes and mind
Children playing in open nature is good for the eyes. It is also linked to better mental health. Green spaces also help in structural changes in the brain of children. Whether healthy air or more sports is the reason for these results, cannot be said yet.
