Mumbai

For Mumbai battling Coronavirus in Mumbai, difficulties are going to increase. The central government assessment team has estimated 75,000 thousand cases in the city till May 15. In this regard, the third week of May can be quite challenging for Mumbai. The BMC has made three aggressive plans to deal with it. Accordingly, the emphasis will be on contract tracing, increasing the capacity of private and public hospitals with more Covid-19 Care Centers (COVID-19 Care Centers) for patients without symptoms.

Currently, the rate of coronation cases in Mumbai is seven days in the last seven days in Mumbai. At the beginning of this month the rate was 3.1 days whereas the rate of doubling of corona cases across the country is 9.1 days. According to the estimates of the central team based on the rate of doubling of corona cases, 63 thousand cases out of 75,000 cases will be without symptoms while only 12,000 cases will be seen.

Contact tracing and surveillance required

Principal secretary of special deputation to organize hospital-related matters in BMC, Manisha Mhayeskar said that the first challenge with BMC is to improve the doubling rate. The double rate of corona cases should be 10 days. Manisha said, "It is important that the rate of doubling of cases does not reach 4 to 5 days. For this, essentially contact tracing and surveillance can be helpful. '

Focus on fever patients and elderly

Manisha said, "Door-to-door surveillance is being done in the Containment Zone." Municipal Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi said that the number of investigations will be further increased. He told, 'The more positive cases we find, the more chances are better to defeat the virus. We are currently focusing on the elderly with fever and co-morbid (suffering from multiple diseases).

80% of cases without symptoms in Mumbai

"With this, there is a need to open more Covid-19 hospitals for patients without symptoms," said Manisha. Let me tell you that 80 percent of corona patients in Mumbai are currently without symptoms. Pardeshi said that BMC has already prepared 25,000 isolation beds for patients without symptoms in hotels.

Exhibition Center transformed into isolation ward

He said, 'With this, the capacity of 350 BMC schools will also be increased and 35 thousand isolation beds will be made there. Apart from this, 20 hajar beds will be kept as standby option in the Wedding Hall and Gymkhana. On Sunday, 100 beds with oxygen facility have been prepared at the NESCO Exhibition Center in Goregaon. On May 5, an additional 1240 beds will be installed. Apart from this, BMC will also increase the facility in hospitals.

7500 beds prepared separately in large hospitals

Manisha said, 'A hospital bed is the most valuable resource for patients with symptoms or co-morbidity (patients with more than one disease). The medical teams posted at Nair, Sevenhills, Kasturba and HBT Trauma Hospital are making amazing efforts to care for the patients. In all major hospitals 7500 beds have been prepared separately out of which 250 beds are in ICU. BMC will add 500 beds here in the coming days.

More than 5 thousand cases in Mumbai so far
