The National Examination Agency (NTA) has decided to conduct a re-examination on July 19 for more than a thousand CUET-UG candidates. These candidates belong to six states. According to NTA sources, a major reason for re-conducting the examination is that the candidates were given question papers in another language instead of the language chosen by them.
250 students are from Oasis Public School
The candidates' time was wasted due to getting the wrong question paper. Of the 1,000 CUET-UG candidates for whom the NTA is conducting the re-examination, 250 candidates are from Oasis Public School in Hazaribagh, which is also under investigation for the alleged leak of the NEET-UG question paper. According to the notification, based on the complaints sent regarding the CUET (UG) 2024 exam, a re-examination will be conducted for the affected candidates on July 19 in computer-based test (CBT) mode.
What was said in the notification?
According to the official notification released on Sunday, the complaints received from candidates till June 30, 2024, as well as those sent online between July 7-9 (before 05:00 pm) in connection with the CUET (UG) 2024 exam have been reviewed. "Based on these complaints, the re-examination will be conducted on July 19, 2024, in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for the affected candidates," the notification said.
During the NEET-UG exam held on May 5, too, the wrong question paper was distributed, leading the NTA to award grace marks due to loss of time. However, following protests and litigation in the Supreme Court, the agency canceled the grace marks and announced an optional re-examination for 1,563 candidates, of whom 813 appeared for the exam on June 23.
Originally, the results of the undergraduate entrance exams were scheduled to be released on June 30, but the NTA delayed the results as it grappled with allegations of paper leaks in NEET-UG, UGC-NET, and CSIR-UGC-NET.
