Cyclone Mihaung Updates. Cyclone ‘Michong’ may hit South Andhra Pradesh and North Tamil Nadu coasts today (05-12-23). During this period, winds can blow at a speed of 90 to 110 km per hour.

 

Heavy rainfall is occurring in many places in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The runway of Chennai airport is flooded. Around 70 flights to and from Chennai airport were canceled. 33 flights have been diverted from Chennai to Bengaluru.

 

According to the Meteorological Department, at 2.30 pm on Monday, Michong was centered about 100 km northeast of Chennai and 120 km southeast of Nellore. The storm is likely to cross Nellore and Machilipatnam near Bapatla on the morning of December 5.

 

CM Stalin met flood-affected people

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin inspected the cyclone-affected areas and interacted with the people. At the same time, he also distributed relief materials to the cyclone-affected people.

 

Eight people died due to the storm: Chennai Police

So far eight people have died in Chennai due to the cyclone. Chennai Police has given this information.

 

All schools in Gajapati district closed

Cyclonic storm Michong is also going to be seen in Odisha. Given heavy rains, all primary, upper primary, high schools, and Anganwadi centers in Gajapati district have been kept closed till December 6.

 

The storm will hit between Nellore and Machilipatnam

It is expected to reach between Nellore and Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. India Meteorological Department (IMD) gave this information on Monday.

 

Shah talked to CM Stalin

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured all possible help from the Center to the affected states. Shah on Monday met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, and Puducherry Chief Minister N. Spoke to Rangaswamy on the phone. Shah said adequate deployment of NDRF has already been made. Additional teams are also ready to assist.

 

Alert issued in coastal districts of Odisha

An alert has also been issued in the coastal districts of Odisha regarding the storm. All three ports in Odisha have been marked with danger number two. The Meteorological Department issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in five districts in Odisha on Tuesday. Fishermen have been instructed not to go into the sea.

 

15000 people displaced due to flood

There is a danger of flood in many low-lying areas of Chennai. Around 15,000 people have been evacuated from Avadi, and Tambaram areas and kept in relief camps. 200 relief camps have been set up in Chennai and more than 100 in other outskirts.
