High-frequency seismic waves pass through the ground, due to which the sound of thunder is heard during an earthquake. The epicenter of the quake in Delhi was just five kilometers inside the ground, due to which people heard a loud sound.

An earthquake of 4.0 magnitude hit many parts of Delhi-NCR on Monday morning. The National Center for Seismology said that tremors were felt at 5:36 am on Monday. The epicenter of the earthquake was near Durgabai Deshmukh College of Special Education in the Dhaula Kuan area of Delhi.
