On Monday, the Election Commission released the final voter list for the Delhi Assembly elections. In this election, about two lakh voters are between 18 and 19. They will use their franchise for the first time in the assembly elections. There are a total of 1 crore 55,24,858 voters in this list. There are 85,49,645 male voters, while there are 71,73,952 female voters. There are 1,261 third genders.
Names are added and removed under the process.
The Election Commission said that names are added and removed under the process for the election process and voter list. For this, there are Form 6 and Form 7. Information about the deletion and addition of names is given to political parties from time to time.
1,67,329 new voters added
According to the information received from the Election Commission, in the month of 29 October to 28 November in Delhi, 1,35,089 voters applied under Form-6 and 83,825 under Form 8 for adding names to the voter list, changing address, deleting names from the list and objections and suggestions. The concerned officials of the Election Commission resolved all the applications by 24 December. In this way, till the final voter list was released, 3,08,942 new names were added to the voter list. 1,41,613 names were removed. During this period, a total of 1,67,329 new voters were added.
Every application was checked.
The Election Commission found that in a month from 16 December, 5.10 lakh new people applied to add their names. This happened for the first time. This happened when more than three lakh voters had already been added to the new list within the stipulated time. Because this was happening within 20 days when the time for objections and investigation had already passed. This was a matter of immediate investigation. All Election Registration Officers - EROs were directed to investigate. Every application was checked. The concerned officials have been asked for 100% verification.
The term of the Delhi Assembly is ending in February. The term of the Assembly is till February 23, 2025. Before this, elections are to be held to form the Delhi Assembly. For this, preparations are being made by the Chief Electoral Officer's office of Delhi.
