The weather in Delhi-NCR has changed. The rain that began late Sunday night continued on Monday. After intermittent rain during the day, heavy downpours were also observed in many areas late at night. This has brought down the temperature. This made Monday the coldest day of the month since 2011, when the maximum temperature was recorded at 34.4 degrees Celsius.

On Monday, the maximum temperature in the capital was recorded at 26.5 degrees Celsius, 7.7 degrees below normal, and the minimum temperature was recorded at 20.6 degrees Celsius, 1.7 degrees above normal. This brought a feeling of coolness to the people. According to the Meteorological Department, this rain is being caused by a distant western disturbance. A cyclonic circulation is present over northeastern Afghanistan and adjoining Pakistan, between 3.1 and 5.8 km above sea level, and a trough has formed in the upper tropospheric westerly winds. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation persists over central Pakistan and adjacent western Rajasthan, up to 1.5 km above sea level.

Clouds have covered the sky since Monday morning, accompanied by strong, cold winds. Intermittent heavy rain lashed several areas of Delhi, causing traffic jams and waterlogging. While the rain brought relief from the humid heat, the disruption to normal life added to the misery. According to the Meteorological Department, the capital recorded 10.3 mm of rain in the past 24 hours, and 3.4 mm of rain from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on Monday. Palam recorded 3.2 mm, Lodhi Road 3.7 mm, Aya Nagar 3.6 mm, and Ridge and Pusa recorded 1 mm each.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain. Heavy rain is expected in North Delhi, Northeast Delhi, Northwest Delhi, and West Delhi. The humidity in the air has ranged from 100 to 78 percent in the past 24 hours. The weather department has predicted rain for Tuesday. The sky will generally remain cloudy.

Moderate rain is expected in most places. Strong winds will blow at a speed of 30-40 kmph, gusting up to 50 kmph. The maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 28 and 20 degrees Celsius, respectively. According to the weather department's data, it has rained on three days so far this month.
