National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has come forward regarding the Agneepath plan. He has described the Agneepath scheme as the need of the hour. Talking about the issue of national security, he said, the environment around India is changing. In such a situation, changes in the army are also necessary.
Doval said that it is necessary to change the army with the changing times. It needs to be seen from one point of view. Agneepath is not a standalone scheme in itself. When PM Modi came to power in 2014, one of his major priorities was to make India safe and strong. Ajit Doval said that what we were doing yesterday if we keep doing the same in the future also, we don't need to be safe. If we want to prepare for tomorrow, we have to change. The Agniveer plan was necessary because, in India, the environment around India is changing.
Our fight with the invisible enemy
The NSA said the wars are now going through a big change. We are moving towards contactless wars and we are at war with invisible enemies. Technology is being used instead of weapons. So if we have to prepare for tomorrow then we have to change ourselves. Doval said, in changing times, four changes are needed. This requires equipment. This requires changes in systems and structures. There is a need for technology change. At the same time, there is a need for change in manpower, and policies.
Regular Agniveer will undergo intensive training
Doval said Agniveers will never be a full army, but Agniveers who become regulars will undergo intensive training. With time they will get experience. He further said, as far as the regiment is concerned, no one is tinkering with the concept of the regiment. The regimental system is not over. This will continue in the army.
Agniveer will become the carrier of change
Doval tried to clear the misconceptions related to the Agniveer scheme. He said, when Agniveer goes back after spending four years in the army, he will be more skilled and trained than other citizens of the society. He said, when the first Agniveer retires, he will be 25 years old. Then India's economy will be 5 trillion dollars. India's growing economy would then need such skilled people. He said this Agniveer will become the vehicle of change. He said, today the new assault rifle is being inducted into the army along with the AK-203 made in India. This is the best assault rifle in the world. Much progress is being made in military equipment.
