A suspected case of monkeypox, which has wreaked havoc in many countries of the world, has also been found in India. The Union Health Ministry said on Sunday that a person who recently traveled from a country suffering from monkeypox transmission has been identified as a suspected case of this disease.
According to the news agency PTI, the ministry has said in the statement that the patient has been isolated in a hospital and his condition is currently stable, there is no cause for concern. The ministry said that samples have been collected from the man and are being tested to confirm the presence of monkeypox.
Contact tracing is being done
The ministry said, 'The case is being managed in line with the established protocol, and contact tracing is ongoing to identify potential sources and assess the impact within the country.'
The ministry said that the risk evolution of this case is in line with the earlier assessment done by the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) and there is no cause for any undue concern. The ministry said the country is fully prepared to deal with such isolated travel-related cases and has robust measures in place to manage and mitigate any potential risks.
