India and the United States are working on a plan to build an air corridor (green corridor) to restore air service. This would reduce travel restrictions between the two countries to a great extent. America will be the first country to build such a corridor with India.
Officials from both countries confirmed that the preparations had reached the final stage. In this special arrangement, those traveling between the two countries do not have to wait long.
In other words, restrictions will come to an end for travelers coming from both India and America. Such a system is called a 'travel bubble' or 'green corridor'. Due to the preparation of the travel bubble between India and America, people traveling from both countries will not have to stay in Quarantine and the rules related to this will also become easy for them.
On the negotiations in this direction, a spokesman of the Ministry of Civil Aviation said, "Due to the increasing demand for air travel, flight service is being considered to be further relaxed. That is why we are exploring the possibilities of creating a travel bubble between the US, France, Germany, and the UK. It may be decided soon after the talks. '
A person aware of the scheme said, 'The most direct flight services on international routes are between India and the US. This is the reason why both India and America are working on this plan. According to the data tracking company OAG, direct flight service between the two countries has increased by 8 percent every year since 2016.
Australia-New Zealand and China-South Korea are also in agreement for the travel bubble. This will partly help these countries to start bilateral trade. These travel bubbles are being created among countries that have been successful in stopping the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
However, officials say that India and the United States will not wait for the Covid-19 infection to come to a complete end and will start work on building a special air corridor before that. In this regard, the official said, "The air corridor can also be built between countries where the cases are almost the same and the uniform method is being adopted to deal with the epidemic."
The US accused India of adopting 'discriminatory methods' and violating fair trade rules during the Vande Bharat Abhiyan (a campaign to withdraw people stranded abroad). The plan to introduce a travel bubble has been in progress since that time.
The US Department of Transportation said yesterday that from July 23, Air India would have to obtain prior permission to operate the flight in the US. The department said, "Air India has gone far beyond the purpose for which flight services were started. India has banned international flights, but Air India is operating improperly in the name of bringing stranded people to avoid it.
India has banned international flights since 22 March in the wake of the Covid-19 epidemic. Officials said that a limited number of flights and passengers would be allowed to travel between the two countries under the travel bubble. India may allow American Airlines to fly to Delhi and Mumbai, while the United States may allow Air India to fly to New York, San Francisco, and Chicago.
Experts said that such an exercise is a sign of the initiative to introduce international flights gradually.
An Air India official said that there would be plenty of scope for flights from both the countries even after the quarantine condition at home. The official said that during this time people will reduce travel related to business etc. and most people will travel to meet their relatives and friends.
