Today is going to prove to be a very important day in the history of Indian Railways. Two trains will collide at full speed in Secunderabad on Friday. Indigenous Train Collision Protection System Kavach (Kavach) will be tested today in Secunderabad. In this, two trains will move towards each other from the opposite direction at full speed. In one of these trains, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav himself will board, while the chairman of the Railway Board will be present in the second train. But due to 'Kavach', these two trains will not collide.
cheapest automatic train collision protection system
According to railway officials, the Ministry of Railways has developed this technology after years of research. 'Kavach' is being promoted by the Railways as the world's cheapest automated train collision protection system. An indigenously developed Automated Train Protection (ATP) system has been developed to help Railways achieve the target of Zero Accidents. The Kavach is designed in such a way that it will automatically stop a train if it gets information about the presence of another train on the same line within the stipulated distance.
The train will stop automatically if the red signal is ignored
Senior officials said that due to this digital system, the train will stop automatically due to human errors such as ignoring the red signal or any other fault. Officials said that the operational cost for the installation of the shield would come to Rs 50 lakh per kilometer, while globally the cost of such a security system is around Rs 2 crore per kilometer.
Railway Minister and Chairman of Railway Board will be present
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will reach Secunderabad to be a part of the trial run of the system on the Sanathnagar-Shankarpally route. An official said that the Railway Minister and the Chairman of the Railway Board will participate in the test to be held on March 4. We'll show how the collision protection system works in three situations - a head-on collision, a rear-end collision and a danger signal.
Know - where will the system be first
High-frequency radio communication is used in the 'Kavach' system. According to officials, the armor conforms to SIL-4 (Security Standard Level Four), which is the highest level of any security system. Once this system is introduced, all trains within a range of five kilometers will stop for the safety of the train standing on the adjacent tracks. The armor is approved for speeds up to 160 kilometers per hour.
