G20: PM Modi said in the meeting of Digital Economy Ministers, Jan Dhan and Aadhaar revolutionized financial transactions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually addressed the ongoing G-20 Digital Economy Ministers' meeting in Bangalore. PM Modi during his address on Saturday said that today India has more than 85 crore internet users who are enjoying the cheapest data cost in the world. He said that India's digital public infrastructure offers a secure and inclusive solution to address global challenges.

PM Modi said we have leveraged technology to make governance more efficient, inclusive, faster, and transparent. He said Jan Dhan accounts, Aadhaar, and mobile phones have revolutionized financial transactions. He said India is a diverse country. We have dozens of languages and hundreds of dialects. People of all religions of the world live here and innumerable cultural practices are followed. From ancient traditions to modern technology, India has something for everyone.

 

 

PM Modi further said, more than 45 percent of global real-time payments for the internet happen in India. The Covid portal supported India's vaccination drive and helped reach 200 crore people with the vaccine. Under Direct Benefit Transfer, the government's schemes helped in reaching the people, and with the help of this the government saved more than $ 33 billion. We are building an AI-powered language translation platform called 'Bhasini'. It will support digital inclusion in all the diverse languages in India.

 

Your efforts to develop a roadmap to facilitate cross-country comparison of digital skills are welcome, said PM Modi. He said India is an ideal testing laboratory for solutions. At the same time, he said that the measures which prove successful in the country can be easily implemented anywhere.

 

The Prime Minister told the delegates present in the meeting that India is ready to share its experiences with the world. Prime Minister Modi said the country has created 'India Stacks', an online integrated digital infrastructure to ensure that no one is left behind. They stressed the need to build a consensus on the G20 High-Level Principles for a Secure, Trustworthy, and Resilient Digital Economy while alerting the G20 delegates to the security challenges faced by the digital economy as it grows.
