Gambhir replied late Wednesday night, saying, "When the dust settles, the truth and logic behind the claim of the coach having unlimited authority will come to light. Until then, I am a little surprised that I am being pitted against my own people, when they are the best!" Gambhir's statement didn't name anyone, but it spoke volumes.

 

 

Was the target the selection committee?

Many fans on social media said that Gambhir's statement was directed at the selection committee, especially Ajit Agarkar, but Gambhir neither named anyone nor mentioned any institution. The statement was ambiguous, but it raised questions.
