Former Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash on January 28th. This tragic incident shook the entire state of Maharashtra, plunging it into mourning. Ajit Pawar's funeral was held in Baramati, and millions of people gathered to pay their respects.
However, some thieves were determined to continue their criminal activities even amidst this tragedy. While Ajit Pawar's funeral was underway, thieves were busy snatching gold chains from the necks of those present.
15 Gold Chains Stolen
According to the police, approximately 15 gold chains were stolen from people's necks during the funeral. The total value of the stolen chains is estimated to be between 25 and 30 lakh rupees. Ajit Pawar was on his way to attend an event when his plane crashed during landing.
His funeral was held with full state honors at the Vidya Pratishthan grounds in Baramati. Some of the thieves who took advantage of the crowd to steal the gold chains were caught red-handed by some of the mourners and handed over to the police. The police have arrested about seven people in connection with the incident and recovered goods worth 20 lakh rupees from them.
It is noteworthy that approximately 8,000 police personnel were deployed for security arrangements at Ajit Pawar's funeral in Baramati. Despite this massive security presence, the large-scale theft has raised serious questions about the effectiveness of the police arrangements. There is considerable anger among the public regarding this incident.
