Mohammad Deepak receives death threats, a reward is also announced; the controversy arose in Kotdwar over the use of the name "Baba".

Mohammad Deepak, who came into the spotlight amidst a dispute over a shop name change in Kotdwar, has received death threats on social media. A reward of two lakh rupees has also been offered for his killing.  The police have registered a case based on Deepak Kumar's complaint. The accused has been tentatively identified as Raja Utkarsh, a resident of Motihari, Bihar. The police are investigating the matter.

 

 

Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind Uttarakhand had written to the Director General of Police (DGP) demanding security for Deepak Kumar in connection with the Kotdwar incident. The letter stated that Deepak Kumar intervened during an attack on a Muslim shopkeeper on January 26, saving the trader's life. Now, his own life is in danger.

 

 

Deepak Kumar's gym was vandalized.

Maulana Sharafat Ali Qasmi, the state general secretary of Jamiat, stated in the letter that Deepak Kumar, fulfilling his humanitarian and constitutional duty, opposed the violence but is now facing continuous threats. On January 31, a large number of people from Dehradun and Haridwar reached Kotdwara and attempted to vandalize Deepak Kumar's gym.

 

 

Jamiat stated that it is extremely unfortunate that a citizen who stood against violence and demonstrated social harmony and humanity is being targeted. They said that the peaceful image of Devbhoomi (Uttarakhand) is being tarnished. Vice President Mufti Rais Ahmed Qasmi demanded that the DGP identify and take action against those who attempted to vandalize the gym in Kotdwar.
