India has been ranked 40th in the Global Innovation Index 2022. It was ranked 81 in 2015. The index shows that India is continuously improving in creating a conducive environment for startups and fostering innovation. Earlier, India had jumped two places in the Global Innovation Index (GII) in the last report of the World Intellectual Property Organization. India was ranked 46th in 2021.
According to the organization, India's ranking has been increasing at a rapid pace since 2015. While India's GII was 81 in 2015, it has risen to 40 in 2022. This improvement has come from the emphasis on research by public and private organizations to create a conducive environment for startups.
The organization claims that this report will help the governments of countries around the world to increase their innovation. Its basic objective is to incorporate new ideas and techniques into social and economic challenges and changes. Governments consider the GII report as a way to improve their policies, which helps in changing the current situation.
