New Delhi, Feb 25 (IANS) Home Minister Rajnath Singh Wednesday said the government has taken measures to contain cyber crime in the country, especially at airports.
Replying to a supplementary in the Rajya Sabha, he assured the house that the government was serious about cyber security and had constituted a committee to examine the recent security breaches at airports.
"Cyber security threat is a big challenge for the country. Effective steps have been taken to strengthen cyber security," he said during the question hour.
Singh said the committee, set up to look into the cyber crimes, will submit its report in three months.
Minister of state for Home Affairs Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary, meanwhile, informed the house that 30 security breaches have been reported at airports since 2011 including the latest which occurred at the Nagpur airport Feb 5.
He said the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), under the Ministry of Civil Aviation, investigates incidents of lapses and security breaches on a need basis and brings to the notice of the concerned agencies.
"To prevent such lapses at airport, time bound deployment of CISF and regular monitoring of security arrangements has been done on regular basis," he added.
