Governor again angry over Bengal violence: Dhankhar said- Constitution is over in Bengal; At night I get reports of violence, in the morning everything is told right

Posted on 10th May 2021 by rohit kumar

In Bengal, 43 ministers of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee were sworn in on Monday. After this, Governor Dhankar once again expressed his displeasure over the Bengal violence. He said that no responsibility was seen in the state government to end the violence. Circumstances indicate that this is what the government wanted. The governor said that the constitution in Bengal is over. There are reports of violence at night and in the morning everything is told right.

Governor Dhankar had earlier raised the issue of Bengal violence on May 5, the day of Mamata's swearing-in. Also appealed to the CM to take immediate steps to improve the situation. Mamta had said that the new system will be implemented. 5 days later, in the swearing-in of ministers, the Governor once again raised the issue of violence, but this time in a more vigorous manner than before.

Read what the governor said ...

The government did not see accountability

The government should understand the ground reality and establish the trust of the people in the state. Government should take action against the criminals who have tried to break the thread of our democracy. The response of the state government in this matter is not hidden from me. Nobody knows this better than me. The government also wanted the same. I did not see any responsibility or accountability.

If I asked for a report, it was not given to me

I sought a report from the Kolkata Police and top officials of the administration on 3 May. On the same day, the Chief Secretary of the state asked for the details of the situation and the steps taken to improve them. I asked him what plans he had to handle this nuisance further. But I did not get any report. The officials sent the report to the Additional Chief Secretary Home, but they have not forwarded this report to me to date.

Government and police officers came to bus attendance

I had to call the chief secretary and call him. The Chief Secretary and the DGP came to see me, but they had no report, no information. No reason was given, why the report which he sent to the Secretary level on 3 May, was not given to me. I was also not told the reason why the Kolkata Police Commissioner sent a report for me to the Chief Secretary Home, why it was not given to me. Why did the Chief Secretary Home not perform his duty? The Chief Secretary and the DGP came to me only to make an appearance, it was a mere show-off.

Asked for a helicopter, then said - there is a problem with the pilots

You can guess how the lack of responsibility is seen in the state in such a situation. I asked for a helicopter to go to the affected areas. I could not find any answer in writing. I was told unofficially that the helicopter had some problems and the pilots also had some problems. Is this the way of giving information to the constitutional head? Why did not you give this answer in writing?

Opposition candidates and activists are paying their lives by paying their lives

I appeal to all of you, and especially the media. This is the historical violence happening after the elections and that too in a very sensitive state, which has adopted criminal character. This is leading to deaths, rapes, excesses. The worst thing is that the opposition candidates, activists, and those who vote for them have to pay for this by giving their lives and rights.

It is difficult for me to run Bengal according to the constitution

I can not ignore it. I appeal to the government to first let me know about the affairs of the state. Secondly, despite my constant efforts, not a word was mentioned. The constitution is not working here. It is becoming very difficult for me that the government in Bengal can be run according to the constitution. The working style is putting the constitution to shame. I can only hope and pray that the government understands the ground reality and takes steps to rectify this alarming situation.

There are reports of violence at night, in the morning everything is told right

I appeal to the media that I am in pain, I am upset. At night I get reports of violence, I know how upset people are, and when I wake up in the morning, I read that everything is fine. History will decide what the government and I have done in times of crisis? You people will also be tested on this. My appeal is that you should carry out your duty fearlessly.

Mamta was also given advice

Earlier, on 5 May, Mamta was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Bengal. During the oath, there was a conversation between the Chief Minister and the Governor. Dhankhar had said that I hope that the situation in Bengal and the country is present and people are upset. If the violence after the elections is for revenge, then it is against the constitution. I sincerely hope that the Chief Minister will take immediate steps to establish law and order.

To this, Mamta had replied that for the last few days, the system of Bengal was in the hands of the Election Commission. The law and order were in the hands of the Election Commission. I have received violent news. The Election Commission is responsible for the incidents that have taken place in the last few days. We assure you that we will create a new system and there will not be any kind of violence in Bengal.

11 dead in violence after elections in Bengal

There were bloody clashes between BJP and TMC workers in several districts of Bengal. About 11 people were killed in it. Incidents of arson were also reported in BJP's office and party workers' homes and shops. The BJP has filed a petition in the Supreme Court demanding the deployment of central forces to maintain law and order in the state. At the same time, a petition has been filed to investigate the violence with the CBI.
