GT vs LSG: Hardik prevails over Krunal, Gujarat defeats Lucknow; Wriddhiman Saha-Shubman Gill and Mohit Sharma shine

For the first time in the IPL on Sunday (May 7), two brothers landed as captains in a match. Hardik Pandya of Gujarat Titans and Krunal Pandya of Lucknow Supergiants came face to face. In this match, Hardik won by defeating his elder brother. Gujarat won big by 56 runs. He has almost confirmed his place in the playoffs.

 

Lucknow captain Krunal Pandya won the toss and decided to bowl. This decision of Krunal proved wrong. Gujarat scored 227 runs for two wickets in 20 overs. In reply, the Lucknow team could only manage 171 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs.

 

Position of both the teams in the points table

Gujarat has 16 points in 11 matches. This is Gujarat\'s eighth victory. He has faced defeat in just three matches this season. On the other hand, this is Lucknow\'s fifth defeat in 11 matches. He has got five wins. There is no result in one match. Lucknow has 11 points and is at the third position.

 

Meyers and Kock gave a strong start to Lucknow

Chasing the mammoth target of 228 runs, the Lucknow team got off to a great start. Kyle Mayers and Quinton de Kock gave the team a strong start. Both shared an 88-run partnership for the first wicket in 8.2 overs. Meyers got out after scoring 48 runs off 32 balls. He hit seven fours and two sixes in his innings. After the dismissal of Meyers, de Kock stood at one end. No batsman supported him at the other end. kock was dismissed in the 16th over. He scored 70 runs off 41 balls. kock hit seven fours and three sixes.

 

Lucknow\'s middle order failed

Lucknow\'s middle order performed poorly in this match. Deepak Hooda 11, Marcus Stoinis four and Nicholas Pooran were dismissed for three runs. Ayush Badoni, who came in as an impact player in the last over, made some effort, but by then the match was out of hand. Badoni scored 21 runs off 11 balls. Captain Krunal Pandya could not open the account. Ravi Bishnoi remained unbeaten after scoring four and Swapnil Singh scored two runs.

 

Gujarat bowlers did wonders

Hardik Pandya\'s bowlers also performed brilliantly in this match. Mohit Sharma, who made a comeback this season, impressed once again. He took four wickets for 29 runs in four overs. Mohit dismissed Kyle Mayers, Marcus Stoinis, Ayush Badoni and Krunal Pandya. Mohammed Shami, Noor Ahmed and Rashid Khan got one success each.

 

Gill and Saha did wonders

Earlier, Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha scored stormy half-centuries for Gujarat. Gill scored an unbeaten 94 off 51 balls. He hit two fours and seven sixes in his innings. Wriddhiman Saha played an inning of 81 runs off 43 balls. He hit 10 fours and four sixes.

 

Miller and Hardik played useful innings

David Miller remained unbeaten after scoring 21 runs off 12 balls. He hit two fours and a six. Captain Hardik Pandya scored 25 runs off 15 balls. He hit one four and two sixes. Mohsin Khan and Avesh Khan took one wicket each for Lucknow.
