According to media reports, three people have died in the circumstances arising due to rain and floods in Tamil Nadu. Many places in Thoothukudi district of Tamil Nadu received 525 mm rainfall on Sunday. Due to this, normal life is badly affected by floods in Thoothukudi. The latest forecast from the Meteorological Department has further increased the problems of the people suffering from floods. Food packets and other essential items are being dropped by Air Force helicopters in the flood-affected areas.
Clouds may rain heavily even today
The Meteorological Department has said that there may be light to heavy rain in many districts of Tamil Nadu on Tuesday also. The Chennai Meteorological Department has said that in the next three hours, there may be heavy rain with lightning in Karaikal and many other districts of Tamil Nadu. The districts where heavy rain is expected include Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvar, Nagapattinam, Ramanathapuram and Sivagangai. Light rain is expected in the Theni, Tenkasi, Kanyakumari, Thirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and Virudhunagar districts.
Efforts continue to rescue passengers trapped in the train.
Train traffic has been badly affected in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu due to heavy rains. Train services have been disrupted in Tirunelveli and Tuticorin districts due to rainfall of about 670 mm and 932 mm in the last 24 hours. Many stations are flooded. At the same time, due to the disruption of train services and heavy rains, 800 passengers are stuck in a train running between Thiruchendur and Tirunelveli stations, preparations are being made to take them to safe places with the help of the local district administration and NDRF. NDRF has said that two of its teams are trying to reach the stranded railway passengers.

Many rivers and lakes are overflowing in the southern districts. Given the flood situation, NDRF and SDRF personnel have been deployed in Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin, and Tenkasi.
